Nuclear energy stocks May Run after budget

Hello friends Govt allocating 20000 cr

Nuclear energy stocks in focus after allocating ₹20000 Cr in the Union Budget

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her eighth consecutive Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26 today and presented some major outlooks for the future of India’s Nuclear Energy Mission and Requirements, as follows.

It involves the Development of at least 100 GW of nuclear energy by 2047 for our energy transition efforts and for an active partnership with the private sector towards this goal, amendments to the Atomic Energy Act and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act will be taken up.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is Maharatna CPSE and one of the largest engineering and manufacturing companies in India engaged in the design, engineering, construction, testing, commissioning, and servicing of a wide range of products and services for the core sectors of the economy like nuclear power, thermal, transmission, renewable energy, industry, and many more.

Sealmatic India Limited is engaged in designing and manufacturing high-precision & heavy-duty mechanical seals that are widely employed in various power plant applications both nuclear & thermal

Hindustan Construction Company Limited is involved in the engineering and construction of infrastructure projects such as dams, tunnels, bridges, hydro, nuclear, and thermal power plants, expressways and roads, marine works, water supply, irrigation systems, and industrial buildings across the country

Hindustan Construction Company Limited is involved in building various structures and facilities required for nuclear power plants, such as reactor buildings, cooling towers, and other related civil engineering works.

MTAR Technologies Limited is engaged in manufacturing mission-critical precision components, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and spare parts for energy, nuclear, space, aerospace, defence, and other engineering industries, to serve projects of high national importance and many more.

MTAR Technologies Limited specializes in providing high-precision engineering solutions and manufacturing critical components such as reactor control systems, fuel handling systems, and various high-precision equipment.

Why Govt is pusing this just becouse below reason

Nuclear energy is considered relatively cheap for several reasons:

Nuclear energy is considered relatively cheap for several reasons:

1. Low Fuel Costs

  • Uranium, the primary fuel for nuclear reactors, is abundant and requires a small amount to produce large amounts of energy.
  • Unlike fossil fuels, nuclear plants don’t require constant large-scale fuel imports.

2. High Energy Density

  • A small amount of uranium produces a massive amount of energy compared to coal or gas.
  • 1 kg of uranium-235 can produce about 24,000,000 kWh, whereas 1 kg of coal produces only about 8 kWh.

3. Stable Electricity Production

  • Unlike solar and wind, nuclear plants provide continuous (baseload) power 24/7.
  • This stability helps keep electricity prices predictable and prevents energy shortages.

4. Long Plant Lifespan

  • Nuclear plants last 40-60 years, much longer than coal or gas plants (30-40 years).
  • The longer a plant operates, the cheaper the energy cost per unit over time.

5. Low Operating Costs

  • After the initial construction, nuclear plants have low running costs compared to fossil fuel plants.
  • They do not require constant fuel extraction and transportation like coal or gas plants.

Why Nuclear Can Be Expensive Initially?

  • High upfront costs: Building a nuclear power plant is expensive ($6-9 billion per reactor).
  • Regulatory & safety measures: Governments impose strict safety measures, increasing costs.
  • Waste disposal: Managing radioactive waste requires long-term solutions.

Is Nuclear Cheaper Than Fossil Fuels?

Yes, in the long run. Once built, nuclear plants generate electricity at a lower cost per kWh than coal or gas. As fossil fuel prices fluctuate, nuclear remains a stable and cost-effective source of energy.
